The beginning
Originally born in Bali, Indonesia, I moved to the Netherlands early on in my life. It didn’t take long for me to find my love for music, as I started playing the keys at around 7 years old. From there, my focus quickly switched to vocals, and later guitar.
My teenage years led me into the realm of heavier music. At first, that included mainly fast and hard music – the (melodic) death metal years. As I grew older and my teenage stubbornness faded, I started looking into other musical avenues. Rock and metal still have a special place in my heart, and most, if not all, of my own experience lies within these genres. I have, however, also started to appreciate pop, jazz, and R&B – trying to incorporate and blend these styles, techniques and sounds into my own musical vocabulary has greatly expanded my array of tools.
Metal Factory
In 2014, I was accepted into Metal Factory. I spent 3 years there honing my skills both as a vocalist and a musician, and I was lucky enough to be trained by some of the best names in the industry (Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion), Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation), Johan van Stratum (Blind Guardian), Bart Hennephof (Textures), among many others). During these years I have had the pleasure to participate in some incredible projects, and I have met even more incredible people.
Extremities and AMEND
During my time at Metal Factory I co-founded Extremities, a progressive metal band with a lot of jazzy influences. With Extremities, I have released 2 studio albums and I have played club shows and festivals around Europe – some highlights being Dynamo Metal Fest, Complexity Fest, Baroeg Open Air, and the Last Miles to the Moon European tour.
Now, together with Bart Hennephof, I stand at the helm of AMEND, a new progressive metal formation.
After building my foundation of experience during these years, I am excited to share my knowledge with you!
